Did you try leaving in the com.ibm.notes.notesurl property? This property is still valid, but, it will be set when the comp app is opened.
Also, make sure your formula works ((I know, it is simple...). Put your formula into an agent or something and use an @prompt to make sure it is returning a value. You will have to take out that backslash to do so. I had some more complicated formulas and found the best way was to code the formula in an agent and then copy and paste that into the property in the CAE.
Also, I think you need the page (not the Notes component) to have com.ibm.notes.enable.preferences set to true. I see I have that set on my test application.
